I’m new to gardening and just bought a house in spring hill…. I know I need to get all the old weeds and other stuff out…. what do I need to do before I plant as far as for insects so they don’t eat what I plant? As I have high hopes and so looking forward to doing this!

Janice ,

I need some advice. We live in Miami. We planted sweet potatoes from slips we started from our own sweet potatoes. The plants grew very well and we even harvested and cured a couple that were delicious. Now, whenever we go to harvest more, the potatoes have holes eaten into them. When I looked it up online, it seems to say I would have to destroy the plants and get rid of the soil in order to get rid of whatever is eating them. Is there any organic insecticide or any other trick to help the plants? Please let me know. Thank you!

Anita,

Wow, what a fabulous site.
So pleased I came across your site by accident.

I am a novice gardener with a 8 year old who loves plants and seeds.

So far we are growing Pear tomatoes, peppers and Egg plants. Look forward to growing more.
Especially heirloom seeds. Keeping history and nature alive.

Thank you
