Borago officinalis

Silvery green leaves covered in softly bristled hairs grow on stocky 18” to 36” plants.

The flavor of Borage is similar to a cucumber.  White Borage has white, star-shaped flowers that explode in an ivory profusion all summer attracting honey bees.  The flowers and young leaves may be used to garnish salads, dips and cucumber soups.

Also known as Starflower, Bee Plant or Bee Bread.

Planting Instructions:

Sow seeds outdoors when soil is warm and temperature does not drop below 65°F. Can also be started indoors 4-6 weeks before planting out. Make successive sowings for continuous summer supplies. Flowers are edible!

Prefers rich well-drained soil.  Can deter tomato hornworms while attracting beneficial pollinators.
