Chirimen Squash
100-120 days. Cucurbita moschata
Chirimen is bronze-orange in color and fruits can weigh 5-11 pounds. This is a Japanese Yokohama type squash. Deep ribs and warted skin start out dark green and mature to a mottled orange. Inside, the thick yellow-orange flesh is moist and sweet.
Plants are very prolific. Some growers have said they can get 8-12 squash per vine. Cooked like a butternut squash.
