A drought tolerant, purple heirloom tomato dating back to the Aztecs of pre-Columbian Mexico. Probably the most 'purple' of all the purple varieties.

The Purple Calabash was grown by Thomas Jefferson at his Monticello home in Charlottesville, Virginia.

The plant produces high yields of 9 to 12 oz deep purple-burgundy beefsteak tomatoes.

Perfect for salads, slicing, and sandwiches. Also great for sauces and paste.

Planting Instructions: Seeds should be sown in warm conditions, covered very lightly (depth of ¼ inch) and kept reasonably moist until seedlings emerge. 

Transplant or thin seedlings 13-17 inches apart.

Grow in full sun.  Stake or cage for support.
