Basil is definitely a favorite herb in my kitchen.
Simple recipes are sometimes the best.
Basil, garlic, olive oil and sea salt. You can chop and stir or blend in a food processor or blender. This is an excellent start to a meal.
I don't use fancy kitchen gadgets but I do love my zucchini "noodle" maker!
Tomorrow I'll blend my homegrown ingredients: basil, cherry tomatoes, sage and garlic with olive oil and serve with homegrown zoodles (zucchini noodles).
I don't usually use a measured recipe when I make Basil Blends but I do have a basic base for a Basil Blend. From here, I often add a few extras that I have on hand.
Easy Basil Oil Blend
Ingredients:
3/4 cup fresh basil, packed
1/2 cup olive oil
4 cloves of Garlic (Yes, I love garlic)
1/2 teaspoon sea salt
1 tablespoon lemon juice
Directions:
Place all ingredients in a food processor or blender and pulse until blended.

Storing your Basil Oil
Store Basil Oil in a sealed jar in the fridge. Basil oil will keep up to 1 week in the fridge or can be frozen. If freezing, pour a thin layer of lemon juice or olive oil over it to keep the basil oil vibrant green.
From this base, you can add in whatever you prefer. A few suggestions include:
-Garlic Scapes
-Sundried Tomatoes
-Hot Pepper flakes or fresh peppers
-Mint
-Oregano
-Sage
-If I'm using it up right away, I have added roasted Tomatoes & Rosemary
