This spicy garlic with an oniony flavor came to this country over a hundred years ago with German immigrants. Its strong heat is like a hot pepper.

Makes an excellent salsa.
Approximately 8 purple-and-brown-skinned cloves per bulb
A vigorous grower that flourishes in colder areas of our country.

Beautiful garlic!

I received my shipment super quickly, but even better than that, the garlic itself was large, beautiful, and obviously healthy. I had to order from another supplier earlier in the season when garlic was out of stock on this website, and I got a tiny, sad, weak-looking couple of bulbs. I'm almost glad that happened so that I can see the difference. (This will be the same for all three varieties I got - German Red, Bogatyr, and Red Chesnok, because they were all equally great)
