80 days. Italian heirloom - Climbing/vining summer squash
Light green fruits grow long, curving to a bell at one end. Vining plants can be grown on a trellis. Harvest at 8-10 in. long when the flavor is fine and sweet.
Vigorous moschata plants can bear all season in areas where insects are a problem for other summer squash. If left to mature, skin will ripen to tan like a butternut squash.
Tromboncino, also called zucchetta, is more tolerant to some common summer squash pests, including squash vine borer, squash bugs and powdery mildew, compared to the more common summer squash cultivars.
Contains 15 heirloom seeds
Tromboncino is an Italian heirloom cultivar of the species Cucurbita moschata, aka the butternut squash. Most butternuts are grown as winter squash where the fruit are harvested when mature, sweet, and dense. Tromboncino squash, however, are harvested and eaten when the fruits are young and tender, like summer squash.
Can’t wait to try this one! I’ve heard many good things!
I purchased these because they’re supposed to be resistant to vine borers. I planted these end of July/early August. We got an early frost this year but I did get one to try! They’re beautiful long vines and I had very good germination. This one tastes sum what like zucchini with a little butternut hint. Delicious
I can wait till next spring to see how they do fending off the borers. Frost killed these vines but they looked so healthy before it and had many baby squash starting.
Great packaging and fast shipping!
I've been desperate for a zucchini tasting squash that really vines and this trombocino is PERFECT! Easy to train, looks amazing, fruit is delicious. Thank you!! Germination rate was 💯
