Arnica, also known as Arnica montana, Leafy Arnica, European Arnica, Leopard's Bane, Mountain Tobacco, Mountain Snuff and Sneezewort, is native to the mountains of Siberia and Europe. Arnica is a protected species in some countries and is becoming a rare plant, largely due to increasingly intensive agriculture. Arnica is used in many ointments and liniments to treat strains, sprains, and bruises. It is also a popular remedy for homeopaths for similar ailments. Some physicians recommended internal use for depression, dyspnea, typhoid, pneumonias, anemia, diarrhea, and cardiac weakness.
