Still going

I LOVE this cow pea! I planted this variety and California black eye pea. It’s the beginning of August, in east central Florida, and the big ripper is still going strong! I did have a tiny bit of an aphid problem at the very start but that did not slow this pea down at all! Plus, it contains a ton of peas in each shell!

This is my favorite cowpea

The pods start turning purple when they're filled out. Easy to shell. Long pods held high above the leaves if you give them some support. Plant them by a fence or trellis and they will climb up and keep bearing.
When cooked they make a rich brow broth. So good!
