January 2023

Happy New Year!

Are you ready for another 2023 garden challenge? The First challenge was announced a few days ago.

There has been a "growing" interest in new garden challenges at Mary's Heirloom Seeds. Growing watermelons in the garden is fun and easy.

But what about Pumpkins? We LOVE Pumpkins!

Did you know that the world record for the largest pumpkin in the US is 2,560 pounds? "Travis Gienger, of Anoka, Minnesota, set the record while winning the 49th World Championship Pumpkin Weigh-Off in Half Moon Bay, south of San Fransisco."

We offer 2 varieties of Pumpkin seeds at Mary's Heirloom Seeds that can grow pretty large. Big Max Pumpkin weighs up to 100 lbs. or more when well grown. Bright orange fruits with orange flesh good for pies. Dill's Atlantic Giant Pumpkin is a massive variety that produce 400 to 500 pound pumpkins consistently but the record for this variety is 2009 pounds!
