Originally from Poona, India, this very interesting cucumber matures into what looks like a large russet potato.
The skin transitions through many colors as it ripens, beginning white, smooth, and thin when young, turning golden-yellow, and finally maturing into a brown, cracked, and russeted surface. Underneath the skin, the flesh ranges from pale green to white, depending on maturity, and is crisp, firm, and juicy.
Poona Kheera plants grow hardy, disease resistant vines which produce an early crop with good yields.
