This heirloom tobacco is thought to have been one of the main filler/binder varieties grown in Wisconsin and Minnesota, having been developed in the late 1800's by a pioneer grower for whom it was named.

The leaves of Comstock Spanish are strong and have good elasticity when cured, making it an excellent wrapper as well. The plants grow to 4.5 feet tall, and bears 20-22 harvestable leaves, each 12-14" wide and 24-26" long.  When the leaves are ripe, they droop and their edges turn downward.
